The Volebeats
Mad Bunny Records are thrilled to release the long awaited album from Detroit's beloved band The Volebeats - Lonesome Galaxy delivers 10 unerringly melodic, harmony driven, groovy, nostalgic and yet absolutely-of-the-now songs, all recorded in Hamtramck, Michigan. From the NACC chart topping first single Diamond Ring to All I’m Asking, Whisper To Me, You Get Closer, Numbers, I Needed Someone, Learning To Get It Wrong, Don’t Listen to Her, The Third Time, and Stranger, the entire album boasts outstanding musicality, brimming with energy and an upbeat pop sensibility even through darker lyrical content – heartbreak never sounded so good – owing to the expert and expansive production by Matthew Smith and Jeff Oakes.

A Dream Set Free
It's that kind of dream
Where you try to stay asleep
It has a life of it's own
and knows you better
than you know yourself
It gathers its own forces
and finds its own way
free of fear and doubt
it's yours but not yours
and grasped for, retreats
staying just out of reach
a stand off
of can and can't
will and won't
whispering
to know me
set me free
The Cush
The search for that sound has yielded yet another brilliant record from The Cush, a band founded by husband and wife Burette and Gabrielle Douglas. This is their first record with Ben Harper's new label, Mad Bunny Records, and the 6th overall release from the band. Risk takers throughout their career, never content to be defined or restricted to a single genre, the Burlington Free Press did their best to describe them – and came pretty close - as "psychedelic space rock vibe with an Americana flavor."
Birdthrower
I saw a man on his hands and knees crawling through Manhattan in a blue business suit. The world was walking by him as if crawling up Broadway was standard practice. I personally found it highly devotional. A man crawling home. Instinctively, I felt he was someone I needed to know. Turns out, he was also a songwriter, and not just any songwriter – this was Birdthrower.
